Sep 13, 2021 Dec 02, 2021

The Elizabeth D. Rockwell Center on Ethics and Leadership at the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston is hiring for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position
in ethics, leadership, and public policy to begin September 1, 2022. The position is designed to provide junior scholars who have recently received their PhDs with an opportunity to develop
their research programs and make contacts in their field. We are especially interested in candidates whose teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our
commitment to diversity and excellence. The teaching load is relatively light: one course per semester. The compensation is relatively good: $75,000 per year plus medical and other benefits
as well as $4,000 per year in discretionary research funds for conferences, books, and research travel. A small moving stipend is also available. The Visiting Professor is free to apply for
tenure-track jobs during their first year and to take another position after one year if they choose.

The city of Houston is the fourth largest city in the US and, by some measures, the US’s most diverse city. The University of Houston reflects this diversity.
The University is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution and is one of the most diverse research institutions in the nation. The Elizabeth Rockwell Center has been sponsoring
a series of Zoom lectures on care ethics over the last year. It has also sponsored talks by Bakari Sellers, Kara Swisher, and a panel on LGBTQ+ politics. Upcoming events include lectures
by Caroline Randall Williams, Sue Collins, Sayeed Choudhury, Linda Martin Alcoff, Anthony Appiah, Maurice Hamington, Eva Kittay, and others as well as a debate on Black reparations
and three conferences on the topics of 1) art and public health; 2) health disparities and women and children’s health; and 3) environmental racism. Please take a moment to visit our website
