The Department of Philosophy at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral scholar position in Philosophy beginning August 2020.
The scholar position is funded by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to enhance and expand our existing diversity efforts as they relate to underrepresented students,
including African-Americans, Latino/as, Native Americans, and others who have a demonstrated commitment to diversity in the academy. AOS/AOC: Critical philosophy of race,
Africana or African-American philosophy, Latin American or Latino/a philosophy, or Native American or indigenous philosophy. We especially encourage applicants from
underrepresented groups in philosophy.

During their residency, the scholar will have no teaching responsibilities, though they may request a teaching assignment. The successful applicant is expected to be in residence
and to take an active part in the life of the department. The successful applicant must also have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by the time of appointment, but within
the previous five academic years. Salary/benefit package is competitive and will include a moving allowance and a research budget as well as funding for a dissertation/book
manuscript review session.
