University of Regina, Department of Philosophy and Classics
PHILOSOPHY - Assistant Professor - Term Position
AOC: Open
AOS: Open
The Department of Philosophy and Classics at the University of Regina invites applications for a two-year term position in philosophy at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The anticipated date of commencement is 1 July 2019, with an end date of 30 June 2021.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include teaching five philosophy courses each year.
Among these will be Introduction to Philosophy, Critical Thinking, and Knowledge and Reality. Ability to teach a wide range of courses in the context of a small department is an asset.
We would particularly value candidates who could teach courses in ancient philosophy, 20th Century Analytic philosophy, epistemology, or metaphysics.
Although the Department already has fairly good strengths in value theory and applied ethics, being able to teach courses in these areas would also be an asset.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in philosophy, or ABD with a firm completion date.
Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level.
Review of applications will begin 15 March 2019.
Qualified applicants interested in this opportunity must submit the following materials via
the online Human Resources portal at
- A cover letter clearly articulating the candidate’s teaching experience and research interests;
- A Curriculum Vitae;
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., summary of course evaluations, etc.);
- Sample syllabi or course outlines;
- Sample of writing;
- Copies of transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended (please note: if successfully short-listed for an interview, official transcripts sent directly from the post-secondary institutions will be required);
- Three (3) letters of reference (please note: if successfully short-listed for an interview, confidential letters of reference will need to be forwarded directly by the referee).
