The Department has doctoral concentrations in social and political thought (with foci on feminism, race issues, critical theory, and democratic theory) and in medicine and philosophy, is affiliated with interdisciplinary programs in peace and justice studies, ethics and development, ethics and humanities in the life sciences, ethics and policy in food and agriculture, women’s studies, African-American and African Studies, and cognitive science, and is engaged in related interdepartmental initiatives in environmental studies and international development. Starting date: August 16, 2008. Ph.D. prior to appointment. Teaching load is two courses per semester, both graduate and undergraduate (including courses in the Center for Integrative Studies in the Arts and Humanities), along with graduate advising and thesis supervision, and committee work.
