The University of Virginia Department of Philosophy invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in ancient philosophy. Areas of competence are open. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two courses per semester at the graduate and undergraduate levels, perform appropriate service activities, and conduct research in his or her area of specialization.

Review of applications will begin October 1, 2015, however the position will remain open until filled. The appointment start date will be August 25, 2016. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or be on track to receive a Ph.D. in philosophy or related field by May 2016. For appointment at the assistant professor level, applicants must hold a Ph.D. by the time of appointment. Candidates with ABD status may be considered for the position, with the title of acting assistant professor.
