Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy/Political Theory

Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, invites applications for a two-year full-time position in philosophy/political theory beginning Fall 2015.

Hampshire College emphasizes a student-centered academic program, with extensive independent and community-engaged learning opportunities, collaborative interdisciplinary work and intensive student/faculty interaction. We welcome applicants with innovative approaches in their research and teaching. Area of specialization is open, but areas of competence should emphasize at least two of the following: history of political philosophy, critical philosophy of race, feminist legal/critical race theory. This is an interdisciplinary position. Position involves a 2/2 course load with extensive advising and mentoring of undergraduates. Position would be located in the School of Critical Social Inquiry. A Ph.D. in Philosophy or Politics at the time of appointment is preferred.
