The Department of Philosophy at the University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Faculty who are active in research are eligible for a 3/2 or 2/2 teaching load, depending on research productivity. The area of specialization is open, but the Department has teaching needs in the areas of ancient philosophy, philosophy of science, and political theory. Applicants should provide evidence of effective teaching and demonstrate promise of excellent scholarship. Service to the Department and University is expected as well.

The Philosophy Department currently consists of seven full-time members. We offer a B.A. degree in philosophy. UMass Lowell is a public national research university with 17,000 students; it is ranked as a top-tier national university by U.S. News and World Report.
