The Department of Philosophy at San Francisco State University invites applications for a Tenure-Track Position at the Assistant Professor Rank in Philosophy of Science broadly construed, effective Fall 2015

Requirements: Ph.D. in Philosophy, or all doctoral requirements completed by 8/1/15. Demonstrated potential for publishing research.
AOS/AOC: AOS in Philosophy of Science broadly construed. Experience researching in a STEM discipline is a plus, as is interest in normative aspects of scientific investigation. AOC open.
Duties include teaching in the M.A., B.A., and General Education programs, scholarly research with high-quality publication expected, and important roles in supervising master's theses, advising, committee service, and curricular development. Ability to teach some of the following: Introductory Formal Logic; Philosophy of Science; Philosophy of Risk; Ethics in Science and Technology; Minds, Brains and Computers. Development of new courses welcomed. The University provides opportunities for support of both research and teaching projects. We value collaborative work among philosophers and with scholars in other fields.

The Department of Philosophy offers two B.A. degrees (in Philosophy and in Philosophy and Religion) and the M.A. degree (in Philosophy), a Pre-Law Emphasis, and a rich array of courses.
