The Department of Philosophy and University College in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invite applications for a teaching-stream appointment in Philosophy of Mind/Cognitive Science at the rank of Lecturer to begin on July 1, 2014.
The successful candidate will be appointed both to the Department of Philosophy (60%) and to University College (40%) in support of the teaching mission of the Department of Philosophy and the Cognitive Science Program at University College.
Candidates must hold a PhD by July 1, 2014, or shortly thereafter, and must demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses from the introductory to advanced levels in both appointing units, and will be expected to have broad teaching competence in Philosophy. Administrative experience is an asset.
Appointments at the rank of Lecturer may be renewed annually to a maximum of five years. In the fifth year of service, Lecturers shall be reviewed and a recommendation made with respect to promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer. Senior Lecturers hold continuing appointments at the University.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
