The Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at Towson University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization in Women and Health.
Responsibilities: Teaching load will be 3-3 for the first year and 3-4 thereafter. The candidate will be required to teach a graduate level core course on Women and Health in the Department’s Master’s degree program. Teaching responsibilities will also include introductory level women’s studies courses in the undergraduate program; upper level undergraduate courses in the candidate’s areas of interest and expertise, and possibly other graduate level courses. We especially welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate the ability to teach courses on sexualities and/or health policy.
Qualifications: A.B.D.’s may apply but Ph.D. is required by August, 2014. Candidates with a Ph.D. in fields other than Women’s and Gender Studies or Health/Health Sciences will be considered if their research and teaching demonstrate knowledge and effective use of current theories, methodologies and substantive findings relevant to the discipline of Women’s and Gender Studies. We seek a scholar/teacher who has an extensive background in intersectional feminist theories and methodologies as they pertain to women’s health and health care systems at the national and/or global levels.
