The Department of Philosophy at Mount Allison University invites applications for a full-time sabbatical replacement position, subject to budgetary approval. Candidates should have a PhD in Philosophy or one nearing completion, and have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and a deep interest in the history of philosophy. The course load for the year is 2/3.The most useful combination of courses to be taught include: a first year introductory course in philosophy based on Plato’s Republic; a second year historical introduction to Ethics; a year-long upper level course in Ancient Philosophy; and an upper-level course in Environmental Ethics, or a course in the successful candidate’s area of research.

The appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor and will commence July 1, 2012 and end June30, 2013. Submissions must include a letter of application with curriculum vitae, transcripts, three letters of reference, teaching dossier and a sample of writing.
