Subject to budgetary approval, the Human Rights Program in the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies at Carleton University invites applications for a one-year term appointment (possibly renewable for a second year), at the level of Assistant Professor. Duties will commence on July 1st, 2010.

The successful candidate will be responsible to teach four Human Rights courses, including a second-year required course in Human Rights Theories & Foundations, two upper-year courses in Human Rights (currently scheduled as Sex, Politics and the State and Histories of Persecution and Genocide), and to direct the Practicum Placement course. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the Coordination of the Human Rights (B.A.) Program, to strengthen ties between the university and human rights community, and to convene meetings of the Human Rights Program Steering Committee.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in a related field is required, as well as evidence of successful teaching; a record of research and publication; and experience in the field of Human Rights and/or work within the human rights community.
