The Department of Philosophy at Brock University invites applications for an Instructional Limited Term Appointment (ILTA) for a 12 months period at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective July 1, 2009. This position is subject to final budgetary approval. The appointee will be expected to teach the equivalent of 4 credits (i.e., the equivalent of 8 one-semester courses in total). The teaching distribution and the courses to be taught are as follows: PHIL 2P96: Philosophy of Human Nature in Summer Day 2009; PHIL 1F94: Introduction to Philosophy: Problems (sections one and two) in Fall/Winter; PHIL 2P00: Pre-Socratics to Plato in Fall 2009; PHIL 3P90: Critical Study of a Classical Philosophy: Plato in Winter 2010; PHIL 2P00: Pre-Socratics to Plato in Spring 2010.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a completed Ph.D. in Philosophy.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated successful university teaching experience as course instructor, especially for an Introduction to Philosophy course. Success can be demonstrated via course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier.
