Brock University, Women’s Studies, Limited Term Appointment

The Centre for Women’s Studies at Brock University invites applications for a Limited Term Appointment for a 12 months period at the rank of Assistant Professor or Lecturer, effective July 1, 2009. This position is subject to final budgetary approval. The appointee will be expected to teach the equivalent of 2 credits (i.e. the equivalent of 4 one-semester courses in total) among the following courses: WISE 2P00 “Classic and Contemporary Discourses in Women’s Studies”, WISE 2P90 “Women’s Issues: Sexuality, Class, Ethnicity”, WISE 2P91 “Historical Perspectives on Women”, WISE 2P94 “Feminist Philosophy”, WISE 2P99 “Canadian Women in a Global Context”, WISE 3P90 “Contemporary Feminist Thought”, WISE 3F95 “Experiential Learning in Women’s Studies” (full credit practicum). Other activities include developing an independent research program and active participation and commitment to the Women’s Studies programs and committees.

• The successful candidate will have a completed PhD in Women’s Studies or any related area with demonstrated university training in Women’s Studies and/or Feminist Theory/Methods and/or Feminist Issues (i.e. course work, dissertation topic). While the preferred qualification is a PhD, ABD may be considered.
• The successful candidate will also have a demonstrated successful university teaching experience (as course instructor and/or teaching assistant). Success can be demonstrated via course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier.
• The successful candidate will display research potential and/or activity as can be demonstrated by publications and conference presentations. Success can be demonstrated via reprints/preprints of publications and/or writing samples.
