Hofstra University, Hempstead NY. The Department of Philosophy seeks to fill an anticipated Assistant Professor, tenure track position, beginning September 2009. Salary is competitive. AOS: 19th Century. AOC: Some subset of the following areas would be desirable: Aristotle, Aesthetics, non-Western. Applicants should be prepared to teach a range of introductory undergraduate courses, including Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Ethics, and an upper-level course in Existentialism and Phenomenology. Ph.D. by time of appointment is strongly preferred, as is teaching experience. Teaching load is 6 courses per year (3 courses per semester), with some released time available; some undergraduate thesis supervision, usual non-teaching duties. Summer teaching may be available.
