The Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of South Florida in Tampa seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time and tenure-earning, Assistant Professor position.
The Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at USF has almost 100 students pursuing an undergraduate major, concentration, or one of two minors (in Women’s
and Gender Studies and Queer and Sexuality Studies); a core of 8.5 full-time faculty in the department on two campuses; and more than 80 affiliate faculty across the university.
We have a graduate program that offers both the Master’s degree and a Graduate Certificate, and usually employ 8-10 teaching assistants / year. One of the oldest Women’s Studies
departments in the country, USF was the first public university in Florida to offer a BA degree in Women’s Studies. We will celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2022.

Qualifications and Education
Minimum Qualifications
Successful applicants must have a Ph.D. in Women’s, Gender, and/or Sexuality Studies or a Ph.D. from an accredited institution with demonstrated record of academic
research achievement in a related field with a graduate certificate, concentration, or equivalent in Women’s, Gender, and/or Sexuality Studies. Must meet university criteria for appointment
to the rank of Assistant Professor. We will consider well-qualified applicants who are ABD and can document their expectation of having degree in hand by May 2022.
Required qualifications include specialization in Trans/Queer of Color Critique. Candidates must be able to teach in their area of specialization at both the undergraduate and
graduate levels, but also be able to teach both introductory courses in Women’s and Gender Studies and Sexualities Studies, and be able to contribute to our minor in Queer and Sexuality Studies.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include the ability to teach theory at the graduate level and teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
The successful candidate should be prepared to teach both face-to-face and online courses.
