KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr. Laura Westra, Professor Emerita (Philosophy), University of Windsor
The Canadian Society for Women in Philosophy invites papers from all areas of philosophy related to the theme of the conference. There are many possible topics, the following being just a small sample:
• Conceptions of nature and the environment in the history of philosophy.
• The ethics and politics of food.
• Property and freedom.
• Aesthetics and the environment.
• Global justice and the role of international law.
• Controversial science: debating environmental research.
• Social, cultural, ethical, and political constructions of nature and the environment.
• Capitalism and distributive justice.
• Shared contexts, shared worlds: families, communities, environments.
• Moral standing / moral consideration beyond humanity?
• Egalitarianism: local, national, global.
• Philosophical implications of biotechnology.
• Gender justice and climate change.
• Environmental science and the role of values.

Conference Hotel
There is a block of rooms at a discounted rate set aside for CSWIP at the Hotel Rialto. It is located downtown, about a half hour from the University campus (by bus). You can book a room by calling the hotel or through the hotel website (be sure to use CSWIP as a reference when you book). Be sure to book your hotel room soon! It might also be worth checking with Expedia.ca for rooms at the Hotel Rialto and for other hotel options. (If you would like to check on bus routes between the University and another hotel, check the Victoria city bus website.)

Travel Information: Getting Around
Getting to the Hotel Rialto
From Victoria International Airport:
• Shuttle Service: AKAL AIRPORTER – about $21/person between the airport and downtown Victoria. You can make reservations online.
• Taxi website
• Car Rental: Victoria International Airport has a number of car rental companies on-site.
Driving Directions
• Directions from the airport and from the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal are available on the hotel website.
Once you’re here… getting to campus
By city bus, the trip between the Hotel Rialto (the desk staff can point you to the stop across the street) and the University Ring Road (map) takes about 30 minutes. Fares are $2.50. The quickest routes to the University from downtown are the 4, the 14 and the 15 (the 15 is an express though so it doesn’t run all the time and may not stop right at the Rialto). There are a couple of others that go downtown as well: the 11, which is not bad, and the 7, which is much slower.

L'association canadienne de philosophie pour les femmes lance un appel d'articles concernant différents
domaines philosophiques liés au thème de la conférence. Une grande diversité de sujets est proposée
dont les suivants. Notez qu'ils ne représentent qu'une infime partie:
• les conceptions de la nature et de l'environnement dans l'histoire de la philosophie
• l'éthique et la politique de l'alimentation
• les notions de propriété et de liberté
• la justice mondiale et le rôle du droit international
• la science controversée : débats sur la recherche environnementale
• les interprétations sociales, culturelles, éthiques et politiques de la nature et de l'environnement
• le capitalisme et la justice distributive

Un bloc de chambres à frais réduits a été mis de côté pour le CSWIP à l’Hôtel Rialto. Il est situé au centre-ville, à une demi-heure du campus universitaire par autobus. Vous pouvez réserver une chambre en contactant l’hôtel par telephone ou à travers le site web de l’hôtel (soyez certain de citer le CSWIP quand vous réservez une chambre). À partir de l’aéroport international de Victoria:
• Service de navette: AKAL AIRPORTER – environs $21 par personne entre l’aéroport international de Victoria et le centre-ville. Vous pouvez réserver en ligne.

• Location de voiture: Quelques compagnies de location sont situées à l’aéroport international de Victoria.

Une fois arrivé… vous rendre au campus
Le trajet par autobus public entre l’Hôtel Rialto et la voie périphérique (Ring Road) de l’université demande environ 30 minutes. Le tarif est $2.50. Les circuits les plus rapides entre l’université et le centre-ville sont les numéro 4, 14 et 15 (le numéro 15 est un express qui ne vient pas régulièrement et ne s’arrête pas toujours devant l’Hôtel Rialto). Le 11 et le 7 (beaucoup plus lent) sont aussi possibles.
