University of Ottawa, Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies (2 replacement positions)

The Faculty of Social Sciences comprises nine departments, schools and institutes, which offer undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral programs in both English and French. With its 10,000 students, 260 full-time professors, and wide array of programs and research centres, the Faculty of Social Sciences plays a key role at the heart of the University of Ottawa. Its graduate students are supervised by excellent researchers and undertake cutting-edge research in the Faculty’s Master’s and Ph.D. programs.

The Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies is accepting applications for up to two (2) replacement positions. We are looking for candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Transnational feminisms and globalization
Indigenous Feminisms
Critical Race Feminisms
Black Feminisms
Trans* studies
Queer and Sexuality Studies
Feminist Disability studies

Duties:
Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels
Participating in academic and administrative activities
Other activities as specified in the collective agreement

Qualifications:
Hold a Ph.D. in Feminist and Gender Studies or related field. Candidates who are close to completing a Ph.D. could be considered;
Demonstrate excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching
Possess a strong publication and research track record in the field.
The ability to teach in both official languages at the moment of hiring is desirable.

Bilingualism:
The University of Ottawa is a bilingual institution, and replacement professors in the Institute of Feminist and Gender Studies must be passively bilingual (French and English). Active bilingualism will be considered an asset.

Terms and Salary:
This one year contract will begin on August 1st, 2016 and end July 31st, 2017 and is renewable for an additional year, upon recommendation of the Dean.

Salary scale for Replacement professors starts at $77,379 (for a full-time teaching workload).
