West Chester University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Women's and Gender Studies to begin in Fall 2014. We seek candidates with expertise in the intersection of feminist pedagogy and distance education AND expertise in another aspect of Women's and Gender Studies with a historical focus that would contribute to the needs of the program: e.g., transnational/post-colonial feminisms OR women and science AND/OR history of gender; and a commitment to developing our growing program. Applicants should be prepared to teach introductory women's and gender studies courses, and other undergraduate courses consistent with their expertise, both in person and on-line. A Ph.D. in Women's and/or Gender Studies with proof of competency in historical methodologies, or a Ph.D. in History with a record of contributions in Women's and/or Gender Studies, is required by August 15, 2014.

Applicants must have a record of successful teaching and demonstrate scholarly promise. We currently offer both a major and minor in Women's and Gender Studies with contributing faculty from a wide variety of departments across the University. The successful candidate will have a "home" in the History department, but teach the majority of her classes for the Women's and Gender Studies program. The teaching load is 4-4.
