UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT SAN ANTONIO. San Antonio, TX. Rank: Associate or Full Professor, teaching load 1/1. Position: Department Chair. AOS: One or more of the following: Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Science, Social/Political, or Ancient. Responsibilities include leading the department in its efforts to achieve national ranking by maintaining a productive personal research program, chairing the department in service to the college and university, and teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Required qualifications are a Ph.D. in philosophy, demonstrated excellence in teaching, a record of outstanding scholarship, an active research program that is nationally recognized, and strong interpersonal and administrative skills. Preferred qualifications include an interest in new graduate program growth, proven leadership in service to their department, college and university, and demonstrated administrative ability or potential. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The University of Texas at San Antonio is a dynamic institution with a diverse and growing student population of over 30,000. The Department of Philosophy and Classics includes 14 faculty members, offers a B.A. and a new M.A. program in philosophy, slated to begin Spring 2014.
