The University of Nevada, Reno, is seeking candidates for a tenure-track assistant or early associate professor position to begin Fall 2012. The normal teaching load is three courses per semester. Duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research and service to the university. Some core curriculum teaching is required. Undergraduate and graduate student advisement, including M.A. thesis supervision. Area of specialization (AOS): political philosophy, philosophy of law, or ethics, with political philosophy or philosophy of law preferred. The successful candidate must have a strong record of research in addition to experience and promise as an excellent teacher. Area of competence (AOC): history of philosophy. Other things being equal, some preference will be given to candidate with interests in areas such as feminism or Latin American philosophy. All requirements for the Ph.D. in Philosophy must be completed by July 1, 2013.
