Chair in Business and Professional Ethics

The University of British Columbia (Vancouver campus) invites applications for the Chair in Business and Professional Ethics.

The successful candidate for the Chair will be appointed at a rank either with tenure or on a tenure-track probationary basis, commensurate with credentials. This appointment is shared between the
W. Maurice Young Centre for Applied Ethics of the College for Interdisciplinary Studies, and the Sauder School of Business. Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the
candidate.

Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. For consideration at the rank of assistant professor, the successful candidate should demonstrate potential for research in an
interdisciplinary applied ethics setting with a strong ability to teach. At the associate professor level, the candidate must have established a record of outstanding research and teaching.

The successful candidate will teach business ethics in the Sauder School of Business, with the teaching load divided between the School and the Centre (or another suitable academic unit). The position will include opportunities for graduate teaching in the candidate’s research area. Both the Centre and the School focus strongly on research, and applicants should have a research interest in broadly
defined business and professional ethics; however, this search is not restricted to any one discipline.

The anticipated start date is 1 July 2009.

Applications, including a letter of introduction, a CV, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and the names and contact information of four references, should be sent no later than November 30, 2008, to the
following address:
